21st Century Online Bootcamp by Sprout Academy SEA

SPROUT ACADEMY – As reported by Central Bureau of Statistics, young women and men around aged 20 in the Asia and the Pacific region continue to face a number of obstacles in accessing decent and productive jobs. Due to the highly competitive and rapidly changing workforce, youth in Asia Pacific (including ASEAN countries) is facing a high number of unemployment, reaching 14,1 percent in 2021. Career preparation, that allow youths to be more job-ready, is currently can only be accessed in the universities, while many of the youths in ASEAN only reaching senior high school level of education.



The online-based boot camp program from Sprout Academy is here to meet the demands of improving the skills and abilities of youth in Southeast Asia. The program will be an extraordinary asset that assembles a diverse range of participants from all over ASEAN, to which extent the high school students as its primary target.

This program is supported by the Youth South East Asia Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) and Arizona State University. The program will be hosted for five consecutive weeks, each week characterised by five unique stages of character development. Here are the details:

  • 20/03/2022: Learning how to communicate well and correctly whilst in a highly collaborative culture
  •  27/03/2022: Finding precise and accurately problem-solving by thinking through a scientific process
  • 03/04/2022: Harnessing their unlimited creativity and adaptability in diverse environments
  • 10/04/2022: Building interest and talent for consistent productivity as well as the decision-making process
  • 24/04/2022: Training to develop career-specific and entrepreneurship skills for the future

It is a great medium for youth to learn, cultivate particular abilities in the 21st century and connect to others across ASEAN. This program will be beneficial for those who want to learn and get out of their comfort zone. It is possible to have a strong influence on their community as well," said Diana Ang, an English teacher from Brunei Darussalam and Co-Founder of Sprout Academy SEA.

Additionally, Dicky Dwi Alfandy from Indonesia (Public Relation of Sprout Academy SEA) highlighted that this online boot camp would allow Southeast Asian students to become individuals who are capable of facing the rapid changes and demands of the working world. These intensive activities containing essential skills training will essentially become the student’s strongest ammunition when facing real-life problems.

The applicant eligibility is a high school student aged 15-18 years old currently studying in a school located in an ASEAN country, including Timor Leste. Participants should also be willing to fully commit to the program for five weeks, ensuring that they have access to a stable internet connection to ensure maximum participation. Due to the international nature of this program, participants will be expected to communicate in English.
